Highlights
ICSC-Goldman reports strong post-Christmas bargain hunting in the Jan. 2 week with weekly sales up 1.5 percent and year-on-year sales rising to a still moderate 2.5 percent from 2.3 percent in the prior week. The report pegs full-month sales at the same 2.5 percent year-on-year rate. ICSC-Goldman doesn't issue a month-to-month comparison, unlike Redbook which will be posted at 8:55 ET.

Definition
This weekly measure of comparable store sales at major retail chains, published by the International Council of Shopping Centers, is related to the general merchandise portion of retail sales. It accounts for roughly 10 percent of total retail sales.  Why Investors Care
